What could solar actually save you in Essex.
Start with your roof and how your household actually uses electricity. We’ll show you the system that could fit, what it’s expected to generate, and what the payment options look like, before you decide anything.

Do the numbers before you buy the hardware.
Southend-on-Sea gets around 1,884 hours of sunshine a year, above the South East regional average and the UK-wide figure of roughly 1,403. That is a real advantage, but it does not decide whether solar is worth it for your home. Panel count is not the first thing that matters either: expected annual generation, how much of it the household uses directly, export, battery behaviour and project cost determine whether the proposal stacks up.
Local sunshine figures are only long-run averages. What your own roof delivers turns on orientation and shading, which a real survey measures.
Real Essex installs, real numbers.
A handful of the systems we’ve recently fitted around the county, each with the first-year benefit worked out for that specific home.

Why bother checking?
You stop being fully at the mercy of supplier prices
Wholesale prices move, and your supplier passes that on. Generate a real share of what your home uses and that share stops moving with the market.
The savings outlast the payback period
Panels are built to keep working for 25 years or more, usually with a manufacturer performance warranty to match. Most systems pay for themselves in 6–7 years; everything after that is money you’d otherwise have handed to a supplier.
The install itself is quick
Most homes are done in one to two days, scaffolding to switch-on. Your installer handles the roof work, wiring and testing, then walks you through the finished system.
Surplus generation isn’t wasted
The Smart Export Guarantee pays for electricity your system generates that your home doesn’t use. You’ll need an MCS-certified install and a smart meter, both standard on everything we fit.
Compare the investment two ways.
See the project price alongside the payment options, including qualifying no-upfront-cost routes and selected 0% promotional finance, subject to status and lender terms.
Cash purchase
Own your system outright from day one, with nothing further to pay once it’s installed.
Finance plan
Fixed monthly instalments spread the cost. Eligibility is confirmed when we prepare your quote.
Already installing nearby?
Where we’re already scheduled in your area, a local offer can sometimes apply. Tell us your postcode and we’ll check.
Asking about payment options is not a finance application and won’t affect your credit file.
Quick answers before you ask.
How long will it take to install?
Most homes take one or two days, the time varying with system size and roof.
Do panels need planning permission?
Most home solar installations fall under permitted development and don’t need planning permission. In a conservation area (Essex has several, including parts of Colchester, Chelmsford and Saffron Walden), panels on a roof slope facing the highway may need permission, though rear-facing panels usually don’t. Listed buildings always need consent.
Is battery storage worth adding?
That’s a question of when your household actually draws power. We work through whether it stacks up for you as part of the quote.
